The forces that move history can never be fully deciphered or nailed by any mean mortal. However in the recent US Iraq war one mean mortal known as General Petraeus has made various inflated and erroneous claims regarding his rather inflated and exaggerated role in defeating insurgents in US Iraq war.In a book titled “Surge-My Journey with General David Petraeus and the remaking of the Iraq War “ one Peter.R.Mansoor has repeated General Petraeus false claims and has dived into deepest depths of sycophancy in praising and projecting General Petraeus. And the tragedy is that Mr Peter Mansoor is fallaciously regarded as a military historian in USA !The supreme irony of naieve par excellence societies !It is well known worldwide and in the US Army that Petraeus was a certified self promoter. However the matter becomes far more grave and serious when our self promoter starts tampering with military history. The first issue with this apology of a book is that it has only two maps.Mr Mansoor appears to be a master of evasion and this lack of serious or credible maps is one proof that evasion and being non committal are best attributes of his character.Mansoor is master in making tall claims which really stink like on page 2 of his so called prologue:-- Claiming to be saviours of Iraqi troops in Ghazalia is far fetched and in bad taste. On page 3 Mansoor indulges in superfluous and pointless verbosity and massive exaggerations :-- His style of writing is more like a sensational despatch of a war correspondent rather than a credible and much acclaimed (in USA only) military historian. As I read the book my conviction that Americans love sycophancy and praising running horses (as Petraeus was few years back) out proportion. Peter Mansoors Surge Reviewed: Journal of Book Reviews by Agha H Amin https://www.amazon.com/dp/1701110784/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_awdb_btf_t1_x_Dh9GFb9DN9Z0J via @amazon
