disbanded in 1922 for refusal to eat puris in 1917  3rd BRAHMANS   RAISED IN 1798 AS 1ST BATTALION OF 16TH BENGAL NATIVE INFANTRY –RENUMBERED 32ND BENGAL NATIVE INFANTRY IN 1824-BEING STATIONED IN BENGAL AND ORRISSA ON OUTER EDGE OF AREA THAT REBELLED SURVIVED 1857   RENUMBERED 3RD BENGAL NATIVE INFANTRY IN 1861 REORGANISATION OF THE BENGAL ARMY IN THE AFTERMATH OF 1857 REBELLION-TOOK PART IN SECOND AFGHAN WAR  CLASS COMPOSITION IN 1883-HAD THREE BRAHMAN COMPANIES OUT OF 8 IN 1883   MADE 100 % HINDUSTANI HINDU BRAHMAN IN 1893 EXPERIMENT WHERE SOME UNITS WERE MADE 100 % MUSLIM OR 100 % HINDU  BECAME 3RD BRAHMANS AFTER BENGAL ARMY, MADRAS ARMY  BOMBAY ARMY AND PUNJAB FRONTIER FORCE WERE MERGED AS ONE INDIAN ARMY- 1895-97  TOOK PART IN FIRST WORLD WAR AND AND SERVED IN EGYPT – IN 1917 100 MEN REFUSED TO EAT PURIS OR OBJECTED TO LANGAR COOKS WHO WERE LOW CASTE –THE UNIT WAS DISARMED –THIS BECAME GROUNDS FOR THEIR DISBANDMENT IN 1922 ALTHOUGH THE OFFICIAL REASON FOR DISBANDMENT WAS POST WAR ECONOMY MEASURES- AS A PUNISHMENT FOR THE 1917 MUTINY REGARDING PURIS THEY WERE BANISHED TO MUSCAT- LAST STATIONED AT FORT SHIGAI IN KHYBER PASS AT TIME OF DISBANDMENT
